Principal's Message

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS AND PARENTS

There have been many questions from students and families about cleaning out lockers, picking up yearbooks, turning in Chromebooks and collecting other items.  We have recently been provided guidance by the Governor and the Delaware County Department of Health to help with these requests.  Muncie Community Schools and Northside Middle School will follow this guidance when allowing students to return to the building to pick up their items and turn in school materials.  The current guidance allows for social gatherings of up to 25 people.  This will be the limit of students and faculty allowed in the building at one time.  It also calls for social distancing of people during these gatherings.  With the schedule below I will implore that students and parents have patience with this process.  The health and safety of our students, staff and families is the most important part of this process and we will take this very seriously. Our staff members will be wearing masks and gloves during this process and we encourage the students to do the same when they turn in materials and collect their belongings.  We will also be cleaning the building areas after each student visits their locker.

Northside Middle School students may come to pick up their personal belongings from their lockers on Thursday, May 14th and Friday, May 15th.  At this time students will need to return all textbooks, library books, Chromebooks, band instruments, band and choir music, and band and choir uniforms.  As stated above, social distancing will be expected during this process.  Times are provided using the first letter of the student’s LAST NAME.  If you cannot make your scheduled time, contact Mr. Grim at eric.grim@muncieschools.org and we will schedule a time for you on Monday May 18th or Tuesday May 19th.

All students will enter Door 9 and parents are asked to park on the East side of the building by the tennis courts.  Band students may leave their instruments, music and uniforms with Mrs. Mizelle or Mr. Denniston at Door 8 but must enter the building at Door 9.  Students will report to the cafeteria, turn in textbooks, library books, and Chromebooks.  Then students will be given a bag and they should go straight to their locker and clean it out.  If the student has PE they then need to go straight to that locker and clean it out.  Students should then immediately exit the building.  Students will not be permitted to roam the halls or socialize.

Attention 5th grade students and families

In a normal year we would have hosted you for a family night in April and had the students over again in May for lunch and a program and tour.  This year we have brought all of this information to you.  Enjoy our Welcome to Northside Middle School video to learn more about what life will be like as a Titan next year.  Be safe.

Welcome to Northside Middle School, home of the Titans.  Northside Middle School has been recognized by the Indiana Department of Education as a Family Friendly School.  Northside educates students in grades 6-8 with a wide variety of ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Northside recognizes the diversity of the students that walk through our doors each day and strives to meet individual student needs.  We offer a variety of curricular subjects that allow students to learn in different ways.  From high school credit classes like Geometry, Algebra, and Spanish to cutting edge Project Lead the Way Computer Science classes, we have courses for all learners.

The physical facilities at Northside include an 800 seat auditorium, gymnasium, media center, labs and classrooms which enhance the educational programs.  All students at Northside are 1:1 with Chromebooks.

Titan students have a plethora of extracurricular activities to stay involved in throughout the year.  Year round athletics, clubs, and theater keep students actively engaged.  Award winning bands and choirs compete in regional and state competitions.

Northside values strong partnerships within the community.  Ball State University, Meridian Health Services, Glad Tidings and other area churches all provide levels of support to our school family.  The NMS PTO is active and meets monthly.

Please follow us on Twitter at NMS Principal@NMS_MCS and on Facebook at Northside Middle School PTO to stay current on Titan news.  We look forward to educating your children and fostering a great relationship with your family as we prepare students for Muncie Central High School and beyond.
