Athletics

Eligibility Requirements

Any student interested in participating in any athletic activities at Northside Middle School must be passing five subjects and have a 2.0 GPA.  Students taking virtual classes must pass three subjects and have a 2.0 GPA.  If your GPA is under a 2.0, you will have to go to study tables 2 days per week until your grades and GPA improve to a 2.0 or higher.  If you have any questions about eligibility you can contact Ms. Gudger at 747-5290.

Fall Season Sports
Cross Country

This team is co-ed and available to all students regardless of grade level.

Football

Football is offered to 7th and 8th grade students.
Football for 6th grade students is offered through http://www.johnfrankfootball.org 

Volleyball

Volleyball is offered to female students in all three grade levels. Tryouts are held for each team.

Winter Season Sports
Basketball

Six teams are provided. One for each grade level for both males and females. Tryouts are held for each team.

Wrestling

Offered for students in all three grade levels.

Swimming

This team is co-ed and available to all students regardless of grade level.

Spring Season Sports
Track

A team is provided for both females and males. This sport is available for all grade levels.

Clubs

Science Fair

Science Fair at Northside Middle School is an opportunity for our students to showcase their work and explore their individual interests. It is a vital way to reinforce the scientific method and demonstrate research-based science.

Multicultural Club

Students learn about various cultures by sharing and enjoying artifacts and cuisines from the specified areas. Multicultural Club is open to any NMS Titan. The club meets one Friday a month after school. The Multicultural Club was created by students.

Ultimate Frisbee

Students involved in Ultimate Frisbee learn the rules of the game. They also work on team building and problem solving. Ultimate Frisbee dates will be determined at the start of the school year.

Recycling Club

Students recycle material around NMS. This club meets on Fridays after school for collection. This club is a student-created club.

Student Council

Our Student Council is a selected group. They work to make positive changes in our school.

National Junior Honor Society

NJHS is an organization for individuals meeting the academic and social requirements. The NJHS is a leadership group, volunteering and assisting when needed.

Kick Back and Read

Kick Back and Read is a group that meets twice a week. In Kick Back and Read, students find a comfortable spot in the media center and read their favorite book with our media specialist and reading teacher.

Drama Club

Students audition for a fall and spring production each school year. Drama is open to any student grades 6-8.

 FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)

Students meet with fellow athletes to discuss the role of Jesus Christ in athletics. FCA is open to any student grades 6-8. FCA meets every Friday in the Choir Room from 8:00-8:45am  with entrance at the auditorium (door 8) beginning at 7:50am.
